PointYourPhone is a daily game: point your phone at a famous place, lock in your direction, and see how close you were. This policy describes what the app does with information on your device. The short version: your data stays on your phone.
The app asks for your device's location for one purpose: computing the direction from where you are standing to the day's target. This calculation happens entirely on your device. Your location is never stored beyond your own game history on your phone, and it is never transmitted to us or to anyone else.
The app reads your device's compass and motion sensors to show which way you are pointing. Sensor readings are processed on your device and are not recorded or transmitted.
Your game results (date, target, how far off you were, hints used) are saved only on your device. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its data in your system settings, permanently deletes them. There are no accounts and no way for us to see your results.
Once a day the app downloads the day's target (a name and its coordinates) from our game server. This request is anonymous: it carries no account, no identifier, and no location. Like any internet request, the server briefly sees your IP address in order to respond. The images on the result globe are loaded from public content servers in the same way.
If you allow notifications, the app schedules a daily reminder locally on your device. No notification data leaves your phone.
No accounts. No analytics. No advertising. No tracking. No selling of data. The app collects no personal information.
The app is suitable for general audiences and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
